Iconic design of La Cité du Vin
La Cité du Vin was designed by XTU architects from Paris and the London-based design studio Casson Mann. Their project won a 2010 Bordeaux tender, attracting 114 bids. Its curved glass and metal shape show wine swirling, the flow of vines, and the Garonne River. Golden reflections change with the light and match the city’s stone buildings. Materials also reference wine: wood-like barrels, glass-like bottles, and aluminum-like vats. The building spans 10 levels, showing a blend of curves, light, and materials.
